Pier Giorgio Frassati Canonization into Sainthood Sept. 7 2025

Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati was a vibrant young Italian layman known for his deep faith, love of the poor, and adventurous spirit. Born in 1901 to a prominent family in Turin, he balanced his studies in engineering with tireless service through Catholic Action and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. A passionate mountaineer, he famously signed a photo from his final climb with the phrase “Verso l’alto”—“To the heights”—which became a symbol of his spiritual and physical aspirations

He died of polio at just 24, but his legacy endures as a patron of youth, students, and mountaineers.  His canonization is scheduled for September 7, 2025.
